I do think though, that it should be very clear in advance that this is the format of the show tickets are being sold for. So, generally I'm probably ambivalent about full album shows. Gradually though and with the help of the official boots, I came to really look forward to hearing the album in full, then of course, I learned that position had changed or had been made (at best) unclear when tickets went on sale.

Turned out great though and the full album segment was superb.Īfter that came the Wrecking Ball tour and despite attending 9 shows, I managed to avoid the full album shows which suited me just fine.Ĭome the "River" tour and initially I was underwhelmed by the thought of the full album, despite it being my favourite. When I bought tickets for that show, full albums were not announced and I had mixed feelings when eventually Buffalo was announced as a Greetings show. I voted Greetings because it's the only full album show I've seen. Anyway, I was just curious here what the opinion around the Lake was about these shows and whether you still enjoy them conceptually or have gotten bored of them. I'm thrilled that the one show I went to was an album show because it made a great night seem even more special, and makes The River have added significance for me. So do you guys prefer full album shows, or the usual fare with Bruce playing what he wants to complete with the usual sign requests? Or perhaps a better question here is if you could only see post-reunion Bruce one time, what kind of show would you like? That's all I can think of right now, but if anyone wants to add to that list feel free. You just don't like the album being performed. Clocking in at about two hours this tour, it takes up most of the show, which some could find off-putting. The River dominates the run time of the show. You know many of the songs and the order they will be played in before the show. Bruce especially is forced to do this if it's a BTR or BITUSA show. I listened to the 09 Darkness show at Giants Stadium tonight, and man do those songs ever transition perfectly to each other. There's absolutely something special about hearing a whole album in sequence. If you've been chasing that one song, this could be especially great for you. if you're at a WIESS show, you will get Kitty in all it's glory). You are guaranteed certain songs, many of which wouldn't be sure bets (i.e.

To put it succinctly, these shows can often seem like a double edged sword. I know it may seem like I'm rehashing discussion from the first leg of the current tour, but I think there are some here who feel differently towards The River Tour due to the length of the album (it dominates the show) and that it was played every night. I thought I'd see how people feel about album shows in general.
